Studio Akane Moriyama

About

Akane Moriyama (b. 1983, Japan) is an artist/designer based in Stockholm. With a background in architecture and textiles, Moriyama intervenes architectural space with textiles. By combining different textile techniques such as dyeing, knitting, sewing, printing, and weaving, Moriyama creates textiles which transform the space and uncover its hidden qualities. Since her first commission “Curtain for O house” (Kyoto 2009), Moriyama has been involved in artistic projects of various scales, including “Cubic Prism”(Texas 2013), “Curtain for Hirakata T-SITE”(Osaka 2016) , “12636g” (Stockholm 2022), and "Textile Roof" at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale (Venice 2023).
